Innovation and sustainability, these are the key aspects that marked the design and construction of the new Olympic flashlights for Milan Cortina 2026, designed by Studio Carlo Ratti Associati and engineered and built by Cavagna Group.
The concept of sustainability was applied both by reducing the number of components and materials used, eliminating anything unnecessary, and in the choice of materials used.
The flashlights are composed mainly of recycled materials, particularly an alloy of aluminum and brass, the handle features an insert made with 60% bionaphtha derived from renewable raw materials, and the burner will be fueled with bio-LPG composed of 100% renewable raw materials, mainly waste and residues such as waste cooking oil, animal fats, and agribusiness residues.
In addition, the Torches have a system that allows them to be reused and recharged as many as 10 times, thus reducing the number needed for both relays.
