Transparency on the impact of the product during its life cycle, providing information on the most sustainable solutions used, the origin of materials, and compliance with regulations-this was the drive behind Samsonite’s first Digital Passport for its two new limited-edition Circular luggage collections.
The Proxis™ Circular version is the first to incorporate bio-circular materials inside a suitcase. The shells, certified by ISCC through the mass balance approach, are 77% produced from polymers obtained from the chemical recycling of waste cooking oil.
In contrast, the Essens collection is made from at least 80% post-consumer recycled polypropylene, of which 35% comes from recycling used suitcases. Old suitcases are disassembled, and the shells are shredded and mixed with virgin and recycled polypropylene.
Both solutions have the lining, zippers, inner tape and mesh are made of 100 % post-consumer recycled PET, while the tow is made of 100 % post-consumer recycled aluminum.
Samsonite also offers repair service, replacement of parts, and the ability to recycle or reuse its shell.
