The new BMW iX3 reflects the holistic approach taken by the BMW Group to improve product sustainability throughout the entire life cycle. The measures implemented have involved the entire supply chain, from production to use, with the aim of saving resources and reducing the environmental impact of new vehicles.
An important focus was placed on the circularity rate, using approximately one-third secondary materials.
Gen6 battery cells are made from 50% recycled raw materials such as cobalt, lithium and nickel, enabling a 42% reduction in CO2 emissions per watt hour compared to the previous Gen5 cells.
The fabric, adhesive and fleece used in the seat covers in the Essential interior finishes are made from 100% recycled PET to promote single-materiality and end-of-life recyclability.
The wheel hubs and swivel bearings are made from 80% secondary aluminium, while the die-cast aluminium rims are made from 70% recycled material.
The raw material for the bonnet of the engine compartment and the storage compartment under the front tailgate consists of 30% post-consumer recycled nylon, obtained from old fishing nets and ropes.
