Lufthansa: collection of furniture by components from disuse aircraft

The Lufthansa airline has launched a project that faces some of the main themes of the circular economy: the recycling and reuse of materials, reusing parts of aircraft for the creation of new products. The project involves several subjects who collaborate for the creation of furnishings, gifts and travel accessories in limited edition, always signed with the brand of the airline, with the aim of keeping the theme of aviation central.

Designers and engineers, in collaboration with some manufacturing companies, select the materials or parts of the aircraft to be used in the new collection of furniture.

At the moment, key rings have been made through the recovery of recycled aluminium from parts of the body and seating tables and bars fixed to the wall obtained using the lateral structure of the aircraft. The whole collection was very interesting in the eyes of the market.
