Vitra’s new collection, Eames Plastic Chairs RE, consists of shells made of post-consumer recycled polypropylene. The circularity of the material comes from the recycling of household waste, in particular used packaging, delivered as part of the ‘Yellow Sack’ (Gelber Sack) collection programme in Germany.
Due to the composition of the recycled material, the different colour variations of the seats are characterised with tiny pigment stains. At the end of the product’s service life, the shells can be recycled.
