Spelt husk for natural and compostable packaging

The life cycle of packaging has a very short lifespan compared to that of conventional plastic-based materials generally used in the industry, this difference, together with the ever-increasing demand for protective packaging, creates a significant environmental impact.
The use of bio-based and easily degradable materials could lead to a circular and more sustainable alternative.
Proservation’s RECOU packaging is an example of this: it is made from natural waste material, spelt husk that is produced during the cereal peeling process, joined by a bio-based binder.
The result is circular and compostable packaging, while preserving the traditional functions of cushioning and insulation.
