Packaging made of tomato bio-plastic

Basket, packaging made of bio-plastic obtained from tomato waste, designed by a collective of Italian designers called Pensiero Materia, with the aim of making sustainable design through the use of natural materials.
From the industrial processing of tomatoes, the skins are harvested and standardized, then added to the PLA, giving it mechanical properties and characteristic red color.
The ingredients are blended to form a granules that are destined to become filaments to be used in the molding processes (injection or blow molding),the products are made through the combination of new 4.0 rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing with one of the oldest production practices: hand molding and natural drying. The products are sustainable, 100% made in Italy and recyclable at the end of their useful life.
