On Monday, the Committee on the Environment and the Internal Market Committee adopted its proposals on new EU rules to cover the entire vehicle life cycle, from design to end-of-life treatment.
The regulation would apply to cars and vans one year after its entry into force.
The new regulations would require new cars to be designed in such a way that as many parts and components as possible can be easily removed by authorised treatment facilities for the purpose of replacement, reuse, recycling, remanufacturing or refurbishing, where technically possible.
