Boffi DePadova: collection with bio-based materials

Boffi DePadova on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2022 presents the new EveryDay Life collection designed by iconic designer Paul Smith. The collaboration allowed to explore aesthetic and sustainability solutions through the use of circular materials.
For the sofa’s padding, goose feathers recovered from discarded articles were used, which underwent a process of washing, sterilisation and selection with the aim of reducing waste. Kapok fibre, derived from the fruit of trees belonging to the Bombacaceae family, was used to give the upholstery elasticity. It is a light, hypoallergenic, antibacterial, heat-insulating and moisture-resistant material.
For the upholstery fabric, hemp fibre was used, cultivated without the use of chemical fertilisers or other toxic substances; the yarn obtained is resistant to mechanical action, tearing and deformation.
