Compound made of bio-polymers, all of them strictly coming from renewable sources, derived from the fermentation of certain bacteria.
Bacterial biodegradable plastic is obtained through bacterial culture. Bacteria are fed by force, which causes them to accumulate fat. The latter, once synthesized, becomes a real polyester.
The basic polymer is a polyhydroxyalkanoate that can be used as it is or blended with other biobased products such as PLA.
It is used as a substitute for chemical-based plastics.
