Mattel PlayBack: the program that puts material resources back into play

Mattel‘s new toy take-back program reflects the company’s sustainability strategy. The goal is to divert broken or out-of-use toys from landfills and provide a service to its customers to put valuable material resources back into play. Whenever possible Mattel will repurpose the recovered materials into new toys as recycled content. All the user has to do is book the prepaid pickup on the brand’s website and ship the toys back. At the moment the brands involved are Barbie®, Matchbox® and MEGA™ but the project will be extended to other lines in the future.
In addition, the company has launched its new collection Barbie® Loves the Ocean Doll, where both the doll and all its accessories are made of 90% recycled plastic recovered from the sea.
