Ikea repurpose the iconic Billy bookcase apllying circular design principles to allow the life cycle extencion of product.
The main changes involved the upholstery and design.
The wooden vineer upholstery has been replaced with high quality paper sheet representing the expressions of wood through high-tech printing.
The new version of bookcase consists of a back panel without nails, set to snap in and out of place more easily thus enabling disassembly and reassembly of the bookcase.
The new Billy will be launched in Asia Pacific markets in July 2022 and in other markets from January 2024.
